Tricycle

I don't know how old this trike is, but we found it at a swap meet down in Chicasha. It's pretty old and had a lot of neglect. We had the bars and fender re-chromed and my dad did a great job cleaning it up and painting it. We put flame stencils on the fork and side of the rear step. Since it's for a kid, we decided it would be better to paint the Native logo on the front instead of putting a headbadge on- could have sharp edges. Beautiful and functional trike. Thanks to Ruthie at Queenie's for helping us with the colors and design. She bought it as a gift for a friend's newborn baby.

Check this out. It was a late-40's Schwinn. I copied the original markings on the tubes coming off the head tube. We added the skirt guard. Came out pretty sweet and it rides so smooth.

We're doing a late 40's Schwinn step-through for a girl named Amanda. She likes red. I think it looks sweet. Should be done this Friday. We'll be lacing up a skirt guard from the back fender to near the rear axle.

Couple other new finds

The girl's bike is an early 50s J.C. Higgins. Has the beehive springer fork, a metal skirt guard, and a huge rack. Everything a guy could want in a girl...'s bike.

The guy's bike is a '55 Western Flyer with the double springer fork and skiptooth chain. This thing is a beast. I love it.

Elgin Twinbar

I just bought this bike. I think it's an Elgin Twinbar 30. Probably from the early-30s. This bike is awesome. I'm planning to keep it, but I suppose if someone offered me the right amount of money, I'd give it up. It's one of the most unique bike designs I've seen. I'm having it shipped from Michigan, and I can't wait to get it. From the little research I've done on the bike, I think they made it from 1931-1940. From the looks of it, especially the head tube and the seat bracket, I think it's an earlier model. I'm gonna look GOOD floating this thing down the river trail.

Big Brad, who works at Bank of America, decided to buy the Western Flyer. I'm glad, but this was definitely a bike I wanted to keep. Oh well, I know Brad will love it.

Upon consulting with Brad, we decided to change the paint scheme. My dad painted the frame and rims metallic black and painted a gold pinstripe on the rims and fenders. It looks sharp. Had to take the springer fork to be re-chromed, so obviously that will be perfect when it's installed. We're putting big, black-walled cruiser tires on and my mom is making a leather satchel that will attach to the rear of the saddle. A saddle satchel. The headbadge will be gold and black. I think it's going to be sweet. I'm jealous.

Here are the pictures after paint and pinstripe. It doesn't have the clear-coat on yet, and it's hard to tell exactly what it looks like in the pics because the flash brought out so much of the gold metallic in the paint.

More progress has been made. We're almost finished with three bikes.

The brown one is for Vintage 1740. It turned out really good. The brown is metallic. The cream object on the front fender is an electric horn. The chrome polished up really nicely. We have yet to re-cover the saddle and put grips on the bars. We

're also making a wine bottle holder to go on the side of the rear rack. Should be pretty sweet.

The red one is for David Lawrence. We went back to metallic red (similar to the original). Kept the Typhoon graphic, but switched out Schwinn for Native. Much better. This bike just needs a bit of touch-up on the saddle paint. One of the cool things about the bike is that it has a two-speed kick-back rear hub. So while you're going you can kick the pedals back like you're going to use the coaster brake and it will shift into overdrive. Pretty sweet.

The blue one is for sale. The lugs and fender details on the blue bike are so cool, we decided to highlight them with orange. I think that bike is awesome. It originally had a frame pump, which we went back to. And it also had a leather bag hanging behind the saddle. My mom sewed a killer bag out of coffee sack jute that will hang back there. We obviously need to cover the saddle in leather and this bike will be ready to roll.

We have this big, old Western Flyer that is my favorite bike so far. It's the first one we've done with a front shock. It's a massive bike. And it has a skip-tooth chain, which is really cool. I'm not putting a chainguard on it because I think everyone should see how cool the chain and chainring is. Below are my designs. We bought metallic grey paint and white tires. Pinstriping on the fenders, Native headbadge, and I'm going to ask my mom to make a saddle bag. Should be sweet. Going to be hard to let go of.

I cut the stencils for the Vintage 1740 bike yesterday. They are ridiculously, intricately tiny. But, much to my amazement, they look pretty good on the bike. I think this bike is going to be sweeeeet.

The latest pics of the British bike we Native-ized. This one is for sale. Almost everything else we've done prior to this has been pre-sold, so if you're looking for a Native bike (and you're a hip chick) this could be the one.

I like it. It's kind of a steel metallic blue with orange accents. We'll be putting the orange and blue headbadge on front. My mom is sewing a bag together out of a coffee sack that attaches to the back of the saddle. There's a chrome frame pump that goes between the two down tubes. The chrome on this bike looks really sharp too. Just wait til you see it complete. Might be too late to buy it then. Matt from the wine bar next door asked me to do a cruiser for him. We got ahold of a '50s Cosmic Flyer from Western Flyer. It originally was built to look like a futuristic space ship bike. Something Red Ranger would've ridden. Pretty cool bike. We're making it cooler.

So below is a picture of the bike with my scribbles on top of it. This is how I usually create the design for the bikes before we start painting them. The one thing I didn't change in the picture is the horn. It's mounted on the handlebar and we're going to move it down to the front fender. Where any respectable horn would be. Pretty sweet. And yes, the lights and horn both work. Also planning to cover the rear rack with a nice piece of wood and have a wine holder welded to attach to the side of the rack. The paint is metallic dark brown and cream.

My dad already painted this bike a steel metallic blue, and I've been trying to work out the details. Here are my drawings on top of the original paint. I think it will look good. Also planning to ask my mom to sew a bag out of a coffee sack that will attach behind the saddle.
